2017 OutWest Film Fest Blocks
South Lake Tahoe Short Film Kick-off
Sept. 21 | 6:00pm – 8:20pm | Duke Theatre, Lake Tahoe Community College
The Duke Theater will host the first OutWest event with a kick-off of short films that serve to educate and entertain. The event begins at 6pm with a 50 minute Youth/Educational "Coming Out" block and after a short intermission resumes at 7:20m with "Living Proud", a block of films directed more towards an adult audience.
A portion of ticket sales for the September 21st event will be donated to the LTCC Foundation earmarked for the Tahoe Pride Equality Scholarship est. 2013.
The Talk - Tales of Coming Out To Family And Friends
Sept. 23 } 4:00pm – 6:00pm | Bruka Theatre
This selection of short films highlight the joys and fears of coming out to family and friends. From unexpected acceptance to fear of losing family and friends this block includes the comedy "Checkmate".
The LOVE Block - Dating, Falling In Love And Yes - Marriage!
Sept. 23 | 7:00pm – 9:00pm | Bruka Theatre
Celebrating the quest for romance, falling in love and tying the knot, our evening block of films will have you laughing, crying and falling in love with the wonderful storytellers in this block.
To get your date night started, the Bruka Theatre will be selling cocktails and appetizers. Get your tickets early as our block of love is sure to sell out before the 23rd.
We Are One - Best Films From Around The Globe
Sept. 24 | 12:00pm – 2:00pm | Bruka Theatre
Our final day of the festival, highlights the best of LGBTQ short films from the U.S. and across the world. The wide variety of films includes the short film "Versatile" which features two actors from the "Open Relationship" which showed at the 2015 festival. A complete list of short films with a description will be released two weeks from the festival.
We will toast this final showing of the best of 2017 short films and with mimosas and international snacks. Following the "We Are One" screening, awards will be announced as selected by the audience and our jury and a final toast of mimosas to celebrate our LGBTQ community.
