South Lake Tahoe to kick off OutWest Film Fest

We are excited to partner with our neighbors at the Lake and kick off this year's film festival with a short film festival screening in South Lake Tahoe on Thursday, September 21st. A variety of international short films will be shown, with the first 45 minutes segment centered around youth, coming out at all ages and education. the second hour will be more geared toward adults and feature short comedies, dramas and documentaries.

Look for more information on the kick off at the Lake along with ticket and room block information within the next two weeks.

Local Film Maker Competition

This year's OutWest Film Fest includes a Local Film Maker Competition.  

Competition Guidelines:

  • Films must be a length of 1 to 10 minutes and have an LGBTQ storyline/characters.
  • Fictional and documentary films will be included and judged within this same category.
  • Films must be submitted by August 25th at Film Freeway or by emailing the Festival.
  • The top three films will be shown at the Festival and an award presented for Best Local Film Maker on September 24th.

*To be considered as local, the director must live in Reno, Tahoe, Carson City or the surrounding areas.
